This week: Darwyn Cooke’s The Hunter and Godard’s Made in U.S.A.

It’s a big week for Stark/Westlake fans. Most of you already know that the first volume in Darwyn Cooke’s Parker comic adaptations, The Hunter, is out. I don’t have time for a full review roundup at the moment, but the critics are ecstatic. Entertainment Weekly, for example, calls it “joltingly good” and “a tremendous feat of compression and interpretation.” Joining the celebration, LA Weekly has a look at the career of Darwyn Cooke that includes several interesting tangents.

This week also marks the long-awaited release of Jean-Luc Godard’s “adaptation” of The Jugger, Made in U.S.A. I hate the movie, some people like it, but I think we can all celebrate that people can now see it and make up their own minds without resorting to bootlegs. Indiewire has just one of many pieces on the release, but it’s got lots of links to others including one that compares it to…Transformers 2.
