Charles Ardai’s Westlake Obituary

From Time:

As no one before him, Westlake played both the light and dark sides of the street–alternating witty, ingenious capers with tales of breathtaking cold-bloodedness–and taught two generations of writers how to stylishly pull off one perfect crime after another. Like Parker, Westlake was the consummate pro.

Ardai (publisher of the great Hard Case Crime imprint) notes that Westlake appears as a character in his new novel, Fifty-to-One.  I have it but have not yet read it.  They send me the things too damned fast and, like a moron, I insist on reading them in order.  Maybe now that football’s almost over I can start getting caught up.
